Back to School Backpack Campaign 2022 UK and Overseas*

As we enter the final weeks of summer holidays, it won’t be long as families look to the new school year.

Many of us have been experiencing struggles as a result of the high cost of living. However, we need to spare a moment for those vulnerable families who have to make the decision between heat or eat. These families can’t even contemplate entertaining the idea of providing their children with basics items we sometimes take for granted.

Hand on Heart will provide school backpacks for children of disadvantaged families in the UK and Overseas*.

Forming partnerships with 6 organisations (below) and supported by our partners Beta Charitable Trust, HoH will provide 1000 much needed backpacks for kids. 500 will go towards primary and 500 for secondary school children.

Acton Homeless Concern ∙ Ealing Soup Kitchen ∙ Harrow Children Centre ∙ Milton Keynes Council ∙ Sufra NW London ∙ Watford and Hertfordshire County

*Overseas Back to School Initiative – Mombasa, Kenya
HoH will also work in collaboration with SUP Kenya to help support 100 children from vulnerable families in Kenya.

All backpacks will include as Standard

  • Reusable water flask
  • Stationery sets (notebook, ringer binder, pens, pencils, rubber, sharpener, highlighters, pencil case, folder, dividers, glue stick, eraser, sharpener, sticky notes, ruler and tape)
  • Colour pencils
  • USB reading light

In addition, the backpacks will contain

Primary school backpacks

the above standard items plus –

  • Activity books
  • Lunchbag
Secondary school backpacks

the above standard items plus –

  • Scientific calculator
  • Math set (compass, pencil, ruler, eraser, protractor, sharpener, 2 set squares)
  • Scissors

The items will go a long way to provide children from disadvantaged backgrounds, with basic school necessities we often take for granted.

The backpacks will be delivered to the partner charities who will distribute to the children and families directly before the new school term commences in early September.

Each backpack will cost £15. Total for 1000 backpacks & supplies will come to £15,000.

We would be very grateful if you would be able to support us in this campaign.

Children should be encouraged to learn but can only do so with the right tools. Your help could provide essential items for a child’s education.
