2023 Winter Warmer Pack Campaign

As the freezing cold temperatures and dark winter months continue and with the ever increasing cost of living crisis taking a hold on thousands of people all around the UK, many individuals are turning to outreach drives and food banks for support as they struggle to make basic ends meet.  With rent and cost of living rises, these are just some of the reasons why people face homelessness and the harsh reality of sleeping on the streets, sofa surfing or desperately trying to find shelter in sheds and garages.

Each year at this time, Hand on Heart support hundreds of people facing homelessness with our Winter Warmer Pack Campaign.

The project will serve winter essential items to rough sleepers during these cold dark months.

About the Packs

In total,  1200 Winter Warmer Packs will be assembled and distributed to vulnerable groups in February.

The project will be supported by Hand on Heart’s dedicated and trusted volunteers. In addition to Set up and Distribution teams, over 30 families, 3 schools, 1 scouts club and 2 care homes will be recruited (see Get Involved page) to help assemble the 1200 drawstring bags.

Each pack will be filled with essential winter items such as

  • hoodies
  • thermals (top and bottom)
  • thermal socks (3 pairs)
  • underwear (3 pairs)
  • winter gloves
  • woolly hats
  • deodorants
  • wet wipes
  • toothbrush/toothpaste

The guest will receive all the items in a quality drawstring bag.

In addition, sleeping bags and hundreds of hot water bottles with fleece covers, blankets, and bottled water will be handed out at 15 Outreach Drives.

When, Where and with Who?

Hand on Heart will be partnering with Beta Charitable Trust and working alongside 9 charities. The distribution will reach out as far as Birmingham, Brighton, Leicester, Luton, Manchester, Slough and as well as London.
