Assist Hand on Heart in providing supplies for refugees from Afghanistan.

As you will all have seen in recent weeks, the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated suddenly and dramatically.

We have all seen the pictures and images of those trying to flee with literally the clothes on their backs and looking around the world for sanctuary.

Hand on Heart has been approached by our good friends at Hertfordshire County Council to see if we would be able to support the first wave of Afghan Refugees with Welcome Packs.

Working with our partners, Beta Charitable Trust, we have already fulfilled our commitment in providing 210 Welcome Packs as part Phase 1 of the project.  These are being distributed as we speak.

Each pack consists of warm clothing, PPE, essential toiletries, socks, underclothes, headscarf’s and other items allowing our Afghan guests to have a set of new items as they arrive in the UK.

We now enter Phase 2 of the project to create an additional 200 Welcome Packs with further Refugees expected to arrive on our shores.

In addition, Hand on Heart will assemble Learning Aid backpacks for the children of family refugees.  Filled with stationary items, activity books, colouring pencils and much much more, these packs will help in a child’s education as they settle in their new environment.

Each Welcome Pack will cost £20 and therefore with 410 packs in total, PLUS each Learning Kits costing £15 we are seeking £8,000+ as a special fundraiser to assist our new guests.

As ever, your generosity is much appreciated.
